lainOS is a community-driven Linux distribution based on Arch Linux, inspired by the anime Serial Experiments Lain. Built collaboratively by developers from the global SEL community, it offers a lightweight, powerful, and privacy-respecting platform designed for developers, tinkerers, hackers, and fans who connect with the show's themes of technology, identity, and the Wired.

This current iteration of lainOS is the official successor to the Coding Experiments lainOS project from 2002 at https://lainos.org. A history section will be included soon.

• Fully preconfigured Sway desktop with custom CoplandOS-GTK theme : AUR access with yay or paru
• NeoVim with LazyVim preinstalled and plugins, preinstalled programming languages: clang, clisp, python, rust, go, ruby
• Sane defaults(just kidding) : MAC randomization, random.trust_cpu=off, feds will cry
• Custom CoplandOS-themed waybar and shell prompt : Git and terminal tools; autocomplete and syntax highlighting etc...
• Privacy stack : wireguard, tor, nyx, i2p, OnionShare, torsocks, LibreWolf, KeepassXC, kleopatra, keystroke-level online anonymization kernel(kloak)
• Watch any anime in the terminal(alone) with ani-cli because you're a loser weeb
