I don't have a 3D printer, but I have a lot of questions.  From what I have seen, 3D printers produce rigid structures; this would be totally unsuitable to wear on the face. And aren't latex gloves enough protection for door knobs?  Who holds a door knob for 15 minutes, the minimum time required to be infected?

That said, the project shows that a lot of time has been put into it.  Whether it will be any help, depends on what I have written above, and probably on other matters, e.g. how will the output be distributed?

Latex gloves or any type of rubber gloves would be good protection when you put your hands on a door handle or fence/handrail. I have never heard of any 15 minutes rule it would move when it is direct contact of droplets touch eyes/mouth.

A shield to cover face would help in close contact if human coughing or sneeze. It could have downeffect as you point out and not perfect. There is probably other shields but cause to print these is due to low supply and easy for people to make and share with others during this pandemic time.
