Salient OS v2020.07 (https://salientos.github.io)
Changelog - v2020.07
General Updates

Working through the configuration files for both ISO's, much legacy configuration has been updated / removed inline with Arch linux.

Fixed regressions that had crept in with Audio / Realtime configurations.
Fixed pamac software manager missing icons. This is/was an issue with archlinux-appstream-data package.
A problem exists on Linux with Discord quitting randomly when in voice calls. This appears to be linked to libappindicator. This should have been addressed upstream. (Please let me know!)

Potentially fixed Discord on Linux quitting randomly.
Software Components

NEW * Calamares updated to 3.2.2x branch
CONFIGURATION

Salient OS Plasma:

Baloo indexer is now turned off by default, this should speed up system response times.

Default Plasma Window animation speed has been changed to give more responsive output.

Don't forget to set your regional settings to match your location, System Settings / Regional Settings and your keymap System Settings Input Devices and add you chosen keymap replacing the default US binding.

Salient OS XFCE:

You can now set light themes. Fixed a small regression.

NOTE

Calamares is now configured to use the NetInstall Module providing an easy solution to install nVidia Drivers and other utilities. This does NOT constitute a full netinstall as you may understand the term but serves as a method of installing drivers / utilities within the installer.

For the best experience if your motherboard supports UEFI then we recommend performing an UEFI install. The screen will pause for a while on the SHA256 Validated screen, do not worry the boot process will continue after a few moments.

In some situations if using the Erase disk option, the installer will fail. You would then need to manually setup your partitions with gparted or preferred tool. You can then utilise the 'keep' method in Calamares when installing Salient. This method works fine but, be sure to check after install that the boot flag has been set.
