antiX is a crafty Debian-based OS that gives new and older boxes great speed for today usages. Taxes only 70 MB RAM fully booted. Add Firefox, Libreoffice spreadsheet, Image viewer and Audio player = 230 MB yet is a fully graphical distro (see screenshots).
This iso fits on a cd or small USB stick. It will boot on both 32 and 64-bit x86 processors.

Note from the uploader: After installing it on an eleven years old AMD 3000 with 1 GB RAM (belongs to  a neighbors old Mama :), me and my colleagues attest antiX is one of the best Operating system to keep using older machines at an excellent speed. Tips:
-Try out the antiX *system* Adblocker (from the Control Center).
-For brand newbies prefer the "MX" version or HandyLinux :)

"antiX 16 Linux has been in development for the past four months, since February 20, 2016, when the project's developers released the first Alpha-labeled ISO images, based on the Debian Sid  operating system.
One Alpha build and two Beta releases have been seeded to public beta testers since then, in which antiX 16 received many improvements, updated packages, and dozens of exciting new features that you can try on a computer near you."

"This should be near enough the final release."

Main changes from previous betas is that Firefox ESR is now the default browser and we ship with an antiX, long-term support Linux 4.4.10 kernel.

Still using udev since eudev (or our build of it) causes some delays on newer hardware. eudev is available in the repo, but we will not ship with it for this release. We aim to fully use eudev for antiX-17 stretch versions.

antiX 17 to be based on Debian GNU/Linux 9 "Stretch"
