Late October work started to get a first pre-build for KDE 4.12 up (beta1 at that time). Since then five full versions of this new major release have been built and well tested, so with the announcement today of KDE releasing 4.12, KaOS is ready and happy to present you with a new stable ISO including this version. Some highlights of this release are substantial improvements in the KDE PIM stack, giving much better performance and many new features. Kate streamlined the integration of Python plugins and added initial Vim-macro support.

All current stable KaOS users, as always, there is no need to reinstall, KDE 4.12.0 will be available with your next pacman -Syu. Please see the forum post regarding this update.

To improve security of every KaOS install the firewall is enabled by default and login requires a password, unless you disable this feature during the install.

KaOS - 2013.12 - Release Notes

With KDE announcing the release of KDE 4.12, KaOS is pleased to present you with a December ISO containing that version. But the bigger news is the improvements the included kernel 3.12.5 brings for hybrid graphics card support. Power management is now handled on kernel level.

More security is added by enabling the firewall by default, and making autologin optional. The Installer had an overhaul to make the look follow the Kotonaru style used in this distribution, is available in four more languages and is accomponied by a Guide available in English and Spanish.

Calligra is localized in Live mode and install. PCI ids updated to the latest, so support for the latest graphics cards is available. With the release of Qt 5.2.0, a Qt5 app (Hotot) is added to the ISO, so all users can have preview of what is to come with Qt5.
