darkstar nvme test iso
« on: 28 January 2018 » by texstar
!!For Advanced users!!

Here is a test iso I made and installed to my nvme drive (UEFI enabled in bios) using the following procedure.

http://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/pclinuxos/pclinuxos/live-cd/test/

1. Live media boots with no graphical splash so you can see what it going on. Boot splash is enabled on installation.
2. Network is disabled on Live media. Network is enabled on installation. (bug siocsifflag device is not found in live mode)

ddCopy ISO to a fairly fresh not an old worn out usbstick

unplug other drives so nvme is the only connected drive

nvme partition table should be gpt format

create 300 mb fat32 partition set boot and esp flags with gparted
create 2000 mb swap partition
create 10000 mb partition or larger for /

Run Install Me and select use existing partitions.
Install and shutdown
Remove usb stick you used for the installation

Your motherboard bios should have an entry with pclinuxos prefix which you want to select as your boot device.

If all goes well you should be able to boot into the nvme drive. Once that is done you can shutdown and plug in your other drives.

Thanks to TerryN for making this happen! \O/
