This is the new Debian Wheezy packaged as a VMware image. The latest VMware Tools are already included. The Debian 7 VMware image (http://www.traffictool.net/vmware/debian7t.html) needs software from VMware to be run. There are various versions available from VMware, but the free VMware Player will do fine.
