Emmabuntüs DE 2 is a desktop Linux distribution based on Debian 9 XFCE. It strives to be beginner-friendly and reasonably light on resources so that it can be used on older computers. It also includes many modern features, such as large number of pre-configured programs for everyday use, dockbar for launching applications, easy installation of non-free software and media codecs, and quick setup through automated scripts. The distribution supports English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish languages.

On October 2nd, 2017, the Emmabuntüs Collective is happy to announce the release of the new Emmabuntüs Debian Edition 2 1.00 (32 and 64 bits), based on Debian 9.1 distribution and featuring the XFCE desktop environment.
This new release of the distribution, implements now the basis of Emmabuntüs DE under Debian 9 Stretch, and improves the UEFI support for the 32 and 64bits architectures.
This Debian Edition 1.00 version includes the following fixes and enhancements :
- Based on Debian Stretch
- UEFI support of the 32bit version in addition to the 64bit
- Selection script for the new wallpapers designed by our friend Odysseus Libre
- Installation menu for the non-free software in the XFCE menu
- Updated OOo4kids to version 1.5.1, thanks to the precious help of our friend Eric Bachard
- Update of the Debian beginner's handbook (http://lescahiersdudebutant.fr/index-en.html) by our mate arpinux
- HandySoft replaced by Gnome-Software
- Removal of SuperTuxKart and Hedgewars, in order to decrease the size of the distribution
