Emmabuntüs DE is a desktop Linux distribution based on Debian 8 XFCE. It strives to be beginner-friendly and reasonably light on resources so that it can be used on older computers. It also includes many modern features, such as large number of pre-configured programs for everyday use, dockbar for launching applications, easy installation of non-free software and media codecs, and quick setup through automated scripts. The distribution supports English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish languages.

On March 20, 2017, the Emmabuntüs Collective is happy to announce the release of the new Emmabuntüs Debian Edition 1.02 (32 and 64 bits), based on Debian 8.7 distribution and featuring the XFCE desktop environment.
This new version support our efforts even more efficiently, thanks to this three improvement axis :
* the solidarity, with the Lilo (https://www.lilo.org/en/?utm_source=emmabuntus) search engine,
* the reuse, by supporting the new UEFI standard during the installation,
* the closure of the digital divide, by giving to the beginners the opportunity to discover an accessible GNU/Linux operating system, in this case based on Debian, with the appropriate documentation. In fact, "The beginner's handbook (http://lescahiersdudebutant.fr/index-en.html)" published by our friends of the 3HG Team, are included in this distribution.
Starting immediately and by default, Emmabuntüs uses Lilo (https://www.lilo.org/en/?utm_source=emmabuntus), the alternative search engine on the web. This decision was taken for two good reasons : the actions taken by the engine to respect the privacy of the web users, and the possibility to redistribute to different associations the incomes generated by the advertising.
The money earned by Emmabuntüs is totally and directly redistributed to our partners YovoTogo, JUMP Lab'Orione and Montpel'libre and will allow them to finance social and environmental projects.
As of today this list is small, but we hope to be soon in position to extend it to other partners, thanks to your growing support on the Lilo platform (http://www.lilo.org/en/emmabuntus-3/).
This Debian Edition 1.02 version includes the following fixes and enhancements :
