Welcome to the Network Security Toolkit (NST). This bootable ISO live USB Flash Drive (NST Live) is based on Fedora. The toolkit was designed to provide easy access to best-of-breed Open Source Network Security Applications and should run on most x86_64 systems.

The main intent of developing this toolkit was to provide the security professional and network administrator with a comprehensive set of Open Source Network Security Tools. The majority of tools published in the article: Top 125 Security Tools by INSECURE.ORG are available in the toolkit. An advanced Web User Interface (WUI) is provided for system/network administration, navigation, automation, network monitoring, host geolocation, network analysis and configuration of many network and security applications found within the NST distribution. In the virtual world, NST can be used as a network security analysis validation and monitoring tool on enterprise virtual servers hosting virtual machines.

We are pleased to announce the latest NST release: "NST 34 SVN:12743". This release is based on Fedora 34 using Linux Kernel: "kernel-5.12.10-300.fc34.x86_64". This release brings the NST distribution on par with Fedora 34.
This is mostly a maintenance release with improved NST WUI functionality. Below is a summary of new tools and feature improvements included in this release:
The lft (Layer-4 (Four) Traceroute) utility has been integrated into the NST WUI.
The NST WUI Ntopng implementation now supports the Ntopng REST API.
The results from using the fast directory scanner: dirble can now be displayed in tabular format on its cooresponding NST WUI page.
Added a new NST script: etherapedump that dumps network resources from an Etherape XML export.
Automatic NST WUI page refresh to the NST Start Page if the NST system is rebooted from the NST WUI.
Now indicating the network interface promiscuous state: enabled on its corresponding NIC Adapter Widget with a short purple dashed line (See the example: NIC Adaptor Widget for Wired Ethernet Interface: lan0 shown below.).
Added predefined DHCP and SMB discovery scan options to the NST WUI Nmap page.
Added a new DNS resolver utility: massdns to the NST Host Name Tools Widget.
The older style left-hand navigation menu has been removed from the NST WUI home page.
A copy to the system clipboard action has been added to most NST WUI resultant table output areas.
As always, the networking and security applications included have been updated to their latest version which can be found in the manifest.
