The Collectif Emmabuntüs has announced the release of the latest update to Emmabuntus, a Xubuntu-based distribution made specifically for refurbished computers destined for humanitarian organisations: "The Emmabuntus team is pleased to announce the  the Beta version of Emmabuntüs 3 based on Xubuntu 14.04. This distribution was designed to make the refurbishing of computers given to humanitarian organizations, especially Emmaus communities (where the name comes from), and to promote the discovery of Linux by beginners, but also to extend the lifespan of the equipment and to reduce over consumption and over waste in electronics. For this version, the following fixes and improvements have been made: updated packages for Xubuntu 14.04, codecs and extensions contained in web browsers (Firefox, Chromium) and Thunderbird mail reader; add Scribus, and new vesion of Picasa ...." This update is delivered to improve the work of reconditioning our friends JerryClan Africa (Ivory Coast, Togo, Cameroon, Chad, Benin and Senegal) that have adopted the reuse of computers by making Jerry Do It Together under Emmabuntus to develop innovative uses in their territories.

The collectif Emmabuntus support the Crowfoundind campaign of Moh Ni Bah project a solution based on ICT and Free Software to fight against the low rate of birth registration in rural sub-Saharan Africa, including Ivory Coast, where 2/3 births are not registered in the civil status according to UNICEF statistics.
