More features, more refinements, and more user-friendliness characterises the release of Manjaro 0.8.4.

While the most immediately noticable difference will likely be the introduction of a new look developed especially for the Manjaro desktop environments, the most significant development will be found in the official introduction of Pamac, a user-friendly Pacman interface developed in-house by the Manjaro Team.

Replacing the Kalu, Pacman-GUI, and Package Browser applications, Pamac makes it faster and easier than ever before to update the system, search for, and install software...all of which can now be undertaken at the same time in only a single application! Furthermore, as well as possessing an intuitive, simple interface, Pamac will also automatically check for updates and new software packages without even having to click a button. It really could not be any easier!

There has also been a shake-up of the flavours officially supported by the Manjaro Team, which are as follows (note that Sourceforge lists the installation file sizes as larger than they actually are):

    XFCE: 32-bit: 965MB / 64-bit: 1.1GB
    Cinnamon: 32-bit: 1.3GB / 64-bit: 1.4GB
    Openbox: 32-bit: 697MB / 64-bit: 880MB
    Net-Edition: 32-bit: 452MB / 64-bit: 581MB

The KDE flavour will be released in the near future as a Community Edition, joining the recent releases of the revamped MATE and LXDE flavours. Community Editions differ from official releases insofar as they are not subject to the same release schedules, and will only be developed when the time and resources are available to do so.

In respect to the official flavours, a more detailed list of the most significant general changes made are as follows:

    New-look desktop environments
Pamac replaces Kalu, Pacman-Gui and Package Browser
User-friendly LXDM configuration application – developed by the Manjaro Team – provided to easily customise the login screen and to even login automatically
Graphical boot screen introduced for installation media
Default kernel has been upgraded to 3.7 from 3.4 (with improved flash support)
Special PDF quick-guides have been provided for each official desktop environment
Additional multimedia support, applications, and access to the AUR have been pre-installed

More information can be found in our changelog. There have also been a number of equally notable fixes:

Support for installation via USB sticks has been improved (via DD or ImageWriter)
Partitions can now be accessed without providing a password
    Hibernation function has been enabled
