CentOS Linux

The CentOS Linux distribution is a stable, predictable, manageable and reproducible platform derived from the sources of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). We are now looking to expand on that by creating the resources needed by other communities to come together and be able to build on the CentOS Linux platform. And today we start the process by delivering a clear governance model, increased transparency and access. In the coming weeks we aim to publish our own roadmap that includes variants of the core CentOS Linux.

Since March 2004, CentOS Linux has been a community-supported distribution derived from sources freely provided to the public by Red Hat. As such, CentOS Linux aims to be functionally compatible with RHEL. We mainly change packages to remove upstream vendor branding and artwork. CentOS Linux is no-cost and free to redistribute.

CentOS Linux is developed by a small but growing team of core developers. In turn the core developers are supported by an active user community including system administrators, network administrators, managers, core Linux contributors, and Linux enthusiasts from around the world.

Over the coming year, the CentOS Project will expand its mission to establish CentOS Linux as a leading community platform for emerging open source technologies coming from other projects such as OpenStack. These technologies will be at the center of multiple variations of CentOS, as individual downloads or accessed from a custom installer. Read more about the variants and Special Interest Groups that produce them.

The CentOS Project

The CentOS Project is a community-driven free software effort focused around the goal of providing a rich base platform for open source communities to build upon. We will provide a development framework for cloud providers, the hosting community, and scientific data processing, as a few examples. We work with several 'upstream' communities to help them layer and distribute their software more effectively on a platform they can rely on.

Experience Storage Freedom

TrueNAS CORE (formerly known as FreeNAS) is the world's most popular storage OS because it gives you the power to build your own professional-grade storage system to use in a variety of data-intensive applications without any software costs. Simply install it onto hardware or a VM and experience the true storage freedom of open source storage.

Share Files. Serve Media. Store Anything.

TrueNAS CORE can be used from the home to the office to the data center for a variety of data-intensive use cases. IT professionals, photographers, designers, audio/video producers and editors, developers, and any user serious about storing and protecting lots of data can take advantage of TrueNAS CORE. Pair it with your favorite backup software to archive large quantities of infrequently used data off of your local devices and even sync and push data to the cloud.

Nothing Protects Your Data Like ZFS

At the heart of TrueNAS is the self-healing OpenZFS filesystem. Previously only available on the highest-end enterprise storage systems, TrueNAS gives you direct, user-friendly access to ZFS. With its built-in RAID, powerful data management tools, and ability to automatically detect and repair silent data corruption (and bit rot), TrueNAS and OpenZFS ensure data integrity from start to finish.

Go Beyond "NAS"

More than a traditional "Network Attached Storage", TrueNAS is Unified Storage that integrates seamlessly into any environment with a variety of file, block, or object access protocols. You can also expand its functionality with a variety of free plugins, like Plex Media Server, NextCloud, Zoneminder surveillance, and many others.

Manage Your Data Like a Pro

Unlimited snapshots, clones, and replication add additional layers to safeguard your data from human error or external threats like ransomware. Add system memory (DRAM) and flash to supercharge performance. Use built-in data compression to maximize space. Manage it all from a user-friendly web interface.

Join the TrueNAS Community

Need help? TrueNAS CORE has detailed documentation and a global community of over 250,000 to learn from and collaborate with.

If your data is critical or you simply need professional support, TrueNAS Enterprise and the full line of TrueNAS storage appliances provide enhanced features and the around-the-clock support necessary to keep your storage online.

Uploads / [New Torrent] Tails 6.2 amd64 ...

Like a tent, you can carry Tails with you and use it anywhere.

Your secure computer anywhere
To use Tails, shut down the computer and start on your Tails USB stick instead of starting on Windows, macOS, or Linux.

You can temporarily turn your own computer into a secure machine. You can also stay safe while using the computer of somebody else.

Tails is a 1.3 GB download and takes ½ hour to install. Tails can be installed on any USB stick of 8 GB minimum. Tails works on most computers less than 10 years old. You can start again on the other operating system after you shut down Tails.

You don't have to worry about the computer having viruses because Tails runs independently from the other operating system and never uses the hard disk. But, Tails cannot always protect you if you install it from a computer with viruses or if you use it on a computer with malicious hardware, like keyloggers.

Amnesia
Tails always starts from the same clean state and everything you do disappears automatically when you shut down Tails.

Without Tails, almost everything you do can leave traces on the computer:

Websites that you visited, even in private mode
Files that you opened, even if you deleted them
Passwords, even if you use a password manager
All the devices and Wi-Fi networks that you used

On the contrary, Tails never writes anything to the hard disk and only runs from the memory of the computer. The memory is entirely deleted when you shutdown Tails, erasing all possible traces.

Persistent Storage
You can save some of your files and configuration in an encrypted Persistent Storage on the USB stick: your documents, your browser bookmarks, your emails, and even some additional software.

The Persistent Storage is optional and you always decide what is persistent. Everything else is amnesic.

Digital security toolbox
Tails includes a selection of applications to work on sensitive documents and communicate securely.

All the applications are ready-to-use and are configured with safe defaults to prevent mistakes.

Tails includes:

  • Tor Browser with uBlock, a secure browser and an ad-blocker
  • Thunderbird, for encrypted emails
  • KeePassXC, to create and store strong passwords
  • LibreOffice, an office suite
  • OnionShare, to share files over Tor
  • Metadata Cleaner, to remove metadata from files
and many more!

To prevent mistakes:

Applications are blocked automatically if they try to connect to the Internet without Tor.
Everything in the Persistent Storage is encrypted automatically.
Tails does not write anything to the hard disk. All the memory is deleted when shutting down.

Warnings: Tails is safe but not magic!
Tails is safer than any regular operating system. But Tails, or any software or operating system, cannot protect you from everything—even if they pretend to.

The recommendations below will keep you even safer, especially if you are at high risk.

Tails is designed to hide your identity.

But some of your activities could reveal your identity:

Sharing files with metadata, such as date, time, location, and device information
Using Tails for more than one purpose at a time

Tails uses the Tor network because it is the strongest and most popular network to protect from surveillance and censorship.

But Tor has limitations if you are concerned about:

Hiding that you are using Tor and Tails
Protecting your online communications from determined, skilled attackers

Tails can safely run on a computer that has a virus.

But Tails cannot always protect you when:

Installing from an infected computer
Running Tails on a computer with a compromised BIOS, firmware, or hardware

Kubuntu is a community developed and supported project. Since its launch in October 2004, Kubuntu has become one of the most highly regarded Linux distributions with millions of users around the world.  Our mission is to provide the latest stable KDE software, which includes the flagship project Plasma, our desktop environment on top of a stable Ubuntu core.  We release in 6 monthly cycles, following the same freezes/milestones as Ubuntu.

Kubuntu will always be free to download, free to use and free to distribute to others. With these goals in mind, Kubuntu aims to be the most widely used Linux system, and is the centre of a global open source software ecosystem.
