Old user keys are not currently being accepted by the tracker so to continue to seed change the key to 32 zeros, you won't get any up or down credit but at least you should be able to complete any incomplete downloads. Good luck Boss! P.S. If your wanting Fedora 12, 13, 14 or any of the Zoneminder live CD's PM me, I'll send you the appropriate .torrent in the interim...

I'm creating a new torrent to upload, to replace an old one that was lost in the crash.  What is the announce URL that I should use?  Thanks.

I currently don't see an option to upload a torrent but if you change the key on the existing .torrent  url to http://linuxtracker.org:2710/00000000000000000000000000000000/announce you will be able to upload or download your existing .torrent (verified). Good luck until everything settles out....

Sometimes I assume to much. In your torrent url (right click and select properties) there is an identification key between "http://linuxtracker.org:2710/" and the "/announce". If you change that to 32 zeros for now it will work. You may want to do the "PM me" thing in the forums here temporarily to keep the .torrent flowing. If requested, what you need to send is the .torrent file with the zeros amended. You nor them will get credit but the transfer will complete but that's not what's important, the file transfer is! Downtown!

If you upload torrents the announce has to be http://linuxtracker.org:2710/announce with out the PID in it.

If you want to change your currents torrents to your new PID, go to the my panel section at the top of the page where it shows the tracker stats.

From there click on the change PID link in the menu and generate a new PID. if you replace the current string in the announce url in the torrents, you should actually receive credit for the transfer.

If you put all 0's no one gets credit.

Reset PID
« Reply #7 on: March 06, 2011, 10:18:20 am »
I just uploaded a torrent a few minutes ago, but don't see it listed yet. Does it need to go through an approval process before it appears on the site?

Also, I went to the My Panel link to reset my PID, as mentioned in an earlier post, but I don't see a link to reset the PID.  I also don't see a menu that might contain this option.  I do see a blank box with a blue header on the left side of the page. This occurs in both Internet Explorer and FireFox.

YEa, I have to get the menu working again....  :-[ on the member pages.

On the torrent page if you select all instead of active you'll see your torrent...

For some reason even though the stats are being collected they are not showing on the pages.

Working on that.

Is the tracker working properly? Perhaps I'm not uploading torrents properly?  I've uploaded several torrents, and they don't appear to be active. They all have (EXT) after the torrent name when I look at the list of all torrents. Also, when I look at the torrents in uTorrent, they list the linuxtracker.org tracker as unregistered. Both the old torrents with my old PID key and the recently uploaded torrents with 32 '0's show as Failure:unregistered torrent pass. The torrents involved are several Kubuntu torrents, and LinuxMCE.

Do I need to do something different when I upload the torrents.

You CANNOT simply upload the torrents you previously downloaded from Linuxtracker prior to 3/1/2011.

Those torrent files have a special PID in them that ties them to you when downloaded so that you get the stats. That tracker url changes from the default Linuxtracker announce url (http://linuxtracker.org:2710/announce) and is seen as an external torrent by the system.

If you want to upload older torrents A NEW TORRENT FILE HAS TO BE MADE AND UPLOADED TO THE SITE.

OK, so the new torrents announce URL should be empty (http://linuxtracker.org:2710/announce)?  I misunderstood an earlier post and set the new torrents up with an PID of 32 '0's/. Those are new torrents. The torrents with a non-zero PID are old torrents that I have been seeding for quite awhile.  I'll try a torrent with no PID in the announce URL.

I have tried uploading torrents with the following announce URLs.  All fail silently.  That is to say, I click to submit them, and I"m put back to http://linuxtracker.org/index.php, and my torrent isn't there.

http://linuxtracker.org:2710/00000000000000000000000000000000/announce
http://linuxtracker.org:2710/announce

Note that the announce URL text on the top of the upload page is http://linuxtracker.org:2710/announce

Any ideas?

The only announce url should be http://linuxtracker.org:2710/announce

I tried uploading one as well that did not take, but then others have...

Have not found a reason why yet.

I just uploaded one but the tracker is still sending back a message of "unregistered torrent pass"... should I just wait a while or something?

Edit: never mind. I see that I have to re-download the torrent from this site after I upload it in order for the tracker to work. Seems like a less-than-optimal solution, but I'm in no position to make any recommendations.
