From Nux! of Romanian Linux Users Group: Stella is a desktop-focused, Gnome2-based CEntOS 6 remix. Stella is not a fork. It is available as installable Live media and contains standard CEntOS software plus some multimedia and desktop additions.
I made it a rule not to overwrite the Base repository, so besides the changed artwork and naming what you get under the hood is basically CEntOS!
Stella comes bundled with various 3rd-party repositories: - EPEL - ElRepo - Adobe - nux-dextop (my own repository: mostly desktop-oriented add-ons)
It was my intent to avoid repository conflicts. You do not need to mess around with yum configuration, priorities etc; it should all Just Work™!
(If you notice any problems or package conflicts please let me know ASAP so I can fix it.)
The necessary software to play a wide range of audio/video formats is already installed; Adobe Flash & Java (OpenJDK), too.
If you'd like a slightly-outdated but stable, Gnome2-based OS to play with then feel free to give Stella a try. [hr] I'm pleased to announce the release of updated Stella ISOs carrying version number 6.5 ...
