Emmabuntüs DE 5 is a desktop Linux distribution based on Debian 12 XFCE/LXQt. It strives to be beginner-friendly and reasonably light on resources so that it can be used on older computers. It also includes many modern features, such as large number of pre-configured programs for everyday use, dockbar for launching applications, easy installation of non-free software and media codecs, and quick setup through automated scripts. The distribution supports English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Danish and Spanish languages.
On August 29th 2023, the Emmabuntüs Collective is happy to announce its Emmabuntüs Debian Edition 5 1.00 (32 and 64 bits) new release, based on Debian 12.1 Bookworm currently in development and supporting both Xfce and LXQt desktop environments.
In this 1.00 version, the following fixes and improvements were implemented :
- Based on Debian 12.1 Bookworm - Added a script to run OS-prober - Improved startup time in live mode and installation of Calamares under WMware - Removed PlayOnLinux and Wine to save space following the activation of a new ISO compression mode - Disabled info message on non-free-firmware repository - Replaced zram-tools by systemd-zram-generator - Updated Scratch 3.29.1 to 64-bit version - Updated of the Emmabuntüs Debian Edition 5 installation tutorial in French version - Updated programs : Firefox 102.14.0esr, Thunderbird 102.14.0, Ventoy 1.0.95
